Discover a unique place on the language border
De Mederie is located on an authentic farm next to the Scheldt, on the language border between West Flanders and Hainaut — a quiet corner that most people only know through the cycling routes towards Kluisbergen.
Here, where three provinces meet, we make artisanal mead and spontaneously fermented cider:
two of the oldest and most original drinks you can taste in Belgium — and that very few people have ever tasted.
During a tour, I will personally guide you between the barrels and tell you everything about the brewing process, the ingredients, and the philosophy behind De Mederie.
Afterwards, you will taste four products in handmade pottery. Each visit is personal and often tailored — the possibilities are broader than you think.

How many people minimum for a visit?
A group visit starts from 12 people. Do you have a smaller group? Contact us — we will look for a solution together.
Is an invoice possible?
Yes. If you come for team building or another activity, an invoice is possible.
What is included in the tour?
A personal tour of about 1.5 hours by the brewer himself, followed by a tasting of four products (mead and cider) in handmade pottery.
What if someone in the group does not drink alcohol?
No problem. An alternative is always provided: homegrown apple juice, coffee, or homemade lemonade from the barrel.
Can I also buy products on-site?
Yes. After the visit, you can buy mead, cider, and pottery in our small shop on the farm.
Are there extra activities possible?
Yes, by appointment:
- Visit to the pottery workshop
- Marked walking trail in the area
- Catering such as pizza or lasagna from the wood oven
Parking?
There is parking for about ten cars in front. A bus can also drive up.
Avelgem is 5 minutes away,
Kortrijk is 30 minutes away, Ghent is 50 minutes away.
Can we visit during the winter?
The Mederie is an authentic farm location and is not heated in winter. Dress warmly or choose to visit in spring, summer, or autumn.
